- his strength, which is not only his physical capability, but also his ability to fight, and by extension, survive—he's largely reliant on his strength and his battle instinct, so giving all that up is essentially giving up the (apparent*) ability to survive and to live. having no strength strongly affects his sense of security as he knows he won't be able to protect
himself if it cam down to it anymore*

it's rated a 9 as it's the most important asset he has, as fighting is the only thing he's got any remote talent in.


* technically in aather there's no such need to hunt and kill and battle to survive, but this is how he measures his worth and his emotional health and self-esteem strongly depends on measuring up to his culture, or in other words being able to fight and kill things. he's also incredibly paranoid so even if aather seems safe to other people it's never safe to him.

WHAT MELODY IS GIVING UP

- Her voice, her ability to speak and more importantly to sing.

It's rated as a 10. Entertainment is illegal in Melody's world but she loves music and singing to the point that she consistently breaks the law and risks death for it by holding concerts while armies are bombing her and her friends. It's the ability she values most, something that brings joy across the universe to those that are unable to hear music without her, and something she states over and over is worth dying for.

Also it's the only reason she has friends and anyone likes her in her mind.
